To be clear: he supports easing taxes on everyone. those with fixed incomes (most seniors) are heavily impacted by oregon’s economic woes.

In the Legislature, Daniel Bonham spearheaded a cost-savings plan called the Keep Oregon Affordable tax package.  The bill included several measures to help bring down the costs of everyday living for Oregonians.

One measure in the package, House Joint Resolution 25 would have referred to voters a measure which would have created a constitutional property tax freeze for Oregonians 65 and older on their primary residence.

Democrat lawmakers in Salem voted to kill the measure by not letting it be debated on the floor.  Next year in the Senate, Daniel will sponsor this legislation, because every Oregon senior deserves the opportunity to age safely in place, in their own home, and without skyrocketing property tax bills that are rising faster than the cost of living increases on Social Security and pension/retirement funds.
